A Family Retreat Nestled Among the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Yosemite

Few people can claim the unique experience of growing up in Yosemite National Park, and designer Orlando Soria is one of those fortunate. Seeking an oasis, he returned to his roots with the goal of creating a destination for his family to gather and enjoy time together in nature. His vision led to the creation of Londo Lodge, a 1990s structure that he has transformed into a homey, high-end retreat.

Envisioning an authentic yet elegant mountain home from the 1920s, Orlando blended Cape Cod and Craftsman styles to create a traditional, grand kitchen that evokes the cozy comfort of an ivory cable knit sweater. The full suite of Bertazzoni appliances seamlessly integrates with the rustic elements of the space, while small details like the handles and Collezione Metalli accents add touches of drama and luxury, elevating the design to a new level. The ivory-colored enamel finish of the signature range transcends throughout the entire ambiance.

Designing with the Range as the Focal Point

Aiming to seamlessly integrate the appliances into a room with a historic ambiance, Soria remarked, "The Heritage Series cooker was the first element I selected for the entire space, and it greatly influenced the design." The Collezione Metalli's mixed metal accents infuse a sense of drama and luxury, while the distinctive ivory enamel finish of the Avorio 48” Heritage Cooker and matching Hood guided the selection of cabinetry and hardware. The Bertazzoni 60 cm Built-In Food and Beverage Preservation Columns elevate the kitchen’s bespoke and cohesive aesthetic, enabling Orlando to create a refrigeration, freezer, and wine column wall that mimics a majestic built-in armoire. By coordinating the panel tones with those of the Bertazzoni Heritage Series Cooker and Hood, the visual flow is seamlessly maintained, resulting in an effortlessly elegant effect.

"I love how the refrigerator, freezer, and wine columns allowed me to create a really beautiful wall that looks like a large built in armoire. It just gives the kitchen a classic, considered feel and is all the more unique. I chose three 60 cm columns so there would be enough clearance behind them when the door was open."

Situated a mere three kilometres from the entrance to Yosemite National Park, the Londo Lodge represents a heartfelt return for Orlando and his family. Every aspect of this charming home, with particular emphasis on the kitchen, was meticulously crafted to enhance family gatherings. Immersed in the pine forest, the vibrant greens with subtle minty grey undertones influenced Soria’s choice to mirror this hue on the kitchen ceiling. Meanwhile, a palette of neutral tones was chosen to complement the Bertazzoni Heritage Series Cooker. These meticulous touches, coupled with the Soria family's profound bond with Yosemite, set the stage for countless years of cherished memories.
